Hey yo. Mike Rains wants a tattoo,

But not just any tattoo, like one lonely ass tattoo. He's looking for a constellation of tattoos. We're thinking there should be one central image from which the rest will surround in some way.

So, of what?

Michael Bernard Rains has chosen the subject of his inkin to revolve around his namesake, the biblical figure Archangel Michael. This character is most commonly know (to both Mike and the general public, I'm pretty sure) as the leader of Gods army against the devil. Seeing as how the Archangel Michael is a tricky character with several characteristics in the holy ook, several appearances, many of which are debated and contested (such as the voice in the burning bush) we thought it perfect to have the creation of imagery relating to this figure to involve several points of view and to come to a decision on a final composition for this permanent work on Mr. Rains, through conversation. 

 

What of you then?

Mike chose us as contributors to his tattoo. I came up with the idea of making the development or process open and have the spirit of documentation to play a part in the process (thus the blogs usefulness). After having gone over several stories involving our source figure, Mike chose a few of which he was particularly find and I then, for good measure, highlighted some others mostly in the interest of exciting imagery. We'll use these as a starting point, but feel free to add or change these as you see fit. We're looking for a killer collaborative tattoo design so do what you will get this done!

The two most important characteristics of this process are: 

1- Its duration. It's long term. We're shooting to coincide with Mr. Rains's wedding day this coming September but its a preliminary estimate. We can decide as we go. Making this project together, at a distance we hope will take stress off and get better results that we can all have some level of appreciation for. The extracurricular nature of the creation of the work and its need to be totally satisfactory for its recipient, we want to make this as worthwhile, enjoyable   and finding you as little bothered as possible. 

2- The only hierarchy is the opinion of Mike Rains. Otherwise, I may serve as a mediator but really as we're all buddies with the man, everyone has full discretion to opinionate, to offer and initiate changes as they see fit. We're all compadres so lets take advantage of that.
